Mediterranean music ensembles is a projects builded up by isabella Ruggiero, during the last few years, in order to bring together musicians and dancers from different parts of the Mediterranean.

Isabella Ruggiero brought together, in March 2013, a top level folk musicians so as Midou Akhrif, Vincenzo Castellana e Luciano Maio, founding a project called Luciano Maio quartet, who combines sounds of the traditional folk repertoire from southern Italy, Morocco, Egypt and Lebanon, interpreted by Isabella dance pieces.

Beside that, Mediterranean folk ensembles is a music & dance evening dedicated completely to southern Italian and north African sounds. Under the artistic direction of Isabella Ruggiero, every last monday of the month in CC Muziekcafe’ in Amsterdam, Danzeasud in collaboration with Muziekcafe’ will be presenting gigs of Mediterranean music and dance.
