2-DAY WORKSHOP ‘LA TAMMURRIATA’ A DANCE AROUND THE VESUVIUS
STUDIO BODLABOT

Isabella Ruggiero, experienced dancer and choreographer, will introduce the participants to the cultural background of Tammurriata – a combined form of music, sung and dance – as well as to the basic techniques of dancing and drumming.

The workshop will be structured in two parts:

Day 1 – dance technique, dance etiquette, practical skills and theoretical knowledge on the rhythm of the drum Tammorra, lyrics, verses, rhymes, jokes and the conventional expressions and the metrical structure of the ‘canto’.

Day 2 – Styles: we will examine the style ‘Giuglianese’, from the village Giugliano di Napoli, which is an area in the province of Napoli, Campania, Italy.
It is a very acrobatic style leaded by the melody of a little flute called ‘sisco’.

There will be live music with instruments of the tradition (tammorra, putibù, castanets and more).

Start at 18:30
