Folk music and dance from region Apulia, Italy, by Trio Labate Gasparro Volpe feat. dancer Mariangela Recchia
The Trio is made up of Giovanni Labate (experienced Southern Italian folk dances and world dances instructor, choreographer, researcher, event promoter), Vito Gasparro (frame drum player, diatonic button accordion player, composer, music teacher, researcher within Ethnomusicology), Giuseppe Volpe (accordionist of the band Il Soffio dell’Otre, diplomated in piano with honors, arranger for theatrical plays, music teacher specializing in music for the blind), featuring dancer Mariagrazia Recchia. Originally from the territories of Bassa e Alta Murgia Barese, within the region Apulia, the trio presents a repertoire that ranges from canti di campo(field songs) and canti di lavoro (work songs), such as ‘Lu sule calau calau’, ‘Fimmene’, to pizziche, tarantelle and stornelli, including ‘Pizzicarella’, ‘Canusci na Carusa’ and ‘Santu Paolo’.
